When you think safety at events, you wouldn’t normally consider needing to keep an eye out for crocodiles, snakes and other wild animals which may threaten the safety of yourself or the crew. Assure Safety Services recently supplied a safety officer to oversee and coordinate the event operations from within the onsite control room during the Ford Ranger Raptor Drive Experience held at Tipperary Station, approximately two hours south of Darwin in the Northern Territory.
Avert Risk Management Services developed an initial overall event risk assessment and a safety plan which was tailored to a portion of the event which was a demonstration lap on off road conditions with the vehicles being driven by professional drivers with the invited guests as passengers. During the event ongoing targeted risk assessments were created and daily safety briefings were led by the Assure safety officer to ensure that all stakeholders were communicated and consulted with as part of a continuous improvement process.
